Clinging to God and Guns
When I was 18 years old I wrote a mindless poem about how I could no longer call myself a Christian because of the history of abuse by the Church over the centuries. I walked away from the faith because I could not distinguish the acts of evil humans within the church and the church itself. But I was a freshman in college. Today we examine an article by a “pastor” in the United Methodist Church who has decided to reject the cross because others have used it as a symbol in commission of evil acts. What drove her to this conclusion? The acts of an anti-semitic, Trump-hating, Nazi who attacked the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.

Prayer of the Week
Absolve, we implore You, O Lord, Your people from their offenses, that from the bonds of our sins which by reason of our frailty we have brought upon us we may be delivered by Your bountiful goodness; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Our Closing Theme
