Listener Emails
Thank you to Bryan Potratz and Nathan Smith for their eMails!
Bryan Potratz writes: “RE: “Truck Gun” [see What To Look For In A Truck Gun, above] With the exception of the “small” suggestion, IMO it’s a spot on post. However, *MY* “Big Weld” [see The Big Weld Rule For Gun Buyers, above] checklist led me to choose one of your reviewed firearms (before I had ever seen your site)… the Zastava CZ99 [see Zastava Yugoslav CZ-99 Review, above]. At $300, I’m not as afraid to lose it as I am my 1911, and, as you mention, no, it’s not small, but it rides just fine in a dedicated fanny-pack holster which I can throw on and use reasonably well wherever a coat & tie is not required. The fanny pack also lets me carry 3 extra mags and gives me a place to put my wallet. Good for Hiking or any casual activity. Still, with it concealed in the fanny pack, it rides just jim-dandy and unobservable amongst the gear in my truck and, as a “truck gun” it remains a stalwart backup to my other (lower capacity) CCWs should I be in a situation where two becomes one… or less… and “more bullets” becomes more important. Thanks for the site.”
Nathan Smith writes: “Thanks for the article [see Zastava Yugoslav CZ-99 Review, above]. I picked up one of these pistols recently. The finish looks awful but it shoots great. I wanted to tell you that I was able to convert Beretta M9/92FS mags to use in it. Extra mags were hard to find and expensive when I did find them. The M9 mags have the exact same dimensions (at least the same where it's critical) and are usually easier to find. I had to cut a new hole where the magazine catches which wasn't too difficult. I've added a picture [right]. I thought that might be helpful for shooters.”
Summer Range Trips
Summer is here and it can make your outdoor range time miserable if you live in the Southeast or Southwestern United States. Here are some tips to make the most of your range time: schedule your range time for the coolest parts of the day, prep your equipment before you leave, hydrate, make use of shade (if available), take shade with you, and plan you practice sessions ahead of time.
Which is It?
In response to the Republican National Convention, President Obama decided to trot out some of the facts that we in the gun rights community have been pointing to for years: gun violence is trending downward in America. So, which is it? Are we facing an epidemic of gun violence, as the Dems told us in their convention and as the President himself has said repeatedly? Or are we actually seeing a downtrend in violent crime? Listen to the President and judge for yourself.
The DNCC Dumpster Fire
The Democrat National Convention in Philadelphia was a disaster. A celebration of lawbreaking, deviancy, abortion, big spending, and gun control. The Dems declared their intentions on gun control while the nominee claimed to support the Second Amendment. But with all the talk about “common sense” reforms and “the gun lobby” it's clear where the party stands and what the differences are between the parties.

Mia Anstine joins Armed Lutheran Radio for the first time with a shooting tip about finding the perfect placement for your trigger finger.
Ballistic Minute with Sergeant Bill
Sgt. Bill talks about what he calls the Tactical Timmies you may encounter at the range. Who they are, how to spot them, and why you don't want to be like them.
Aaron Israel of Fundamental Defense

Prayer of the Week
O God, as You declare Your almighty power above all in showing mercy and pity, mercifully grant unto us such a measure of Your grace that we may obtain Your gracious promises and be made partakers of Your heavenly treasures; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord. Amen.
